Thunder kept their hopes of progressing in National Trophy Pool 1 alive with the two wins. They have one match to play, at home to Medway Park on November 2.

Thunder turned around a 37-27 deficit on Saturday to beat Essex Leopards 80-69 and then came back from 37-31 down at the break against Bradford Dragons to win 76-71 on Sunday.

On his side’s second-half come-backs, Hildreth said: “That’s not by design but it’s happened that way and it shows great character to come back in those situations.

“Let’s look back to this time last year, if we were down by ten, 12, 14, 16 points our heads would drop, the mentality was that it would become more negative than positive and it was very difficult to break that losing streak.”

The points were shared around for Thunder against Bradford as Seduikis top-scored with 11, Baker, Spencer and Brendan Okoronkwo all sank ten, Ward and Carter had nine and captain Bud Johnston eight.

Bradford’s Dan Foley was the game’s top scorer with 22, while team-mate Pearson scored 20.
