WEADEN BACK AS COACH

TONY WEADEN is back in charge at Worthing RFC. Their former head coach in the mid-1990s will replace the departed Ian Davies as an interim measure for the season.

The former Bedford man, subsequently in joint charge at Havant and the Sussex team with Davies before the Welshman joined Worthing, will be director of senior rugby. Mick Orton will be his senior squad coach.

Davies, now at Haywards Heath, said: "Tony and I share the same ethos of how we like to see the rugby played '” in an expansive 15-man game. He was a back with Bath 2nd XV, Keynsham and Loughborough University, so back play is his forte.

"He was one of the people I recommended to Worthing when I made my decision to move on. He will bring a lot of experience, organisation and know-how and already knows many of the players.
