Weekend sport decimated by weather

As was the case throughout the nation, sport in 1066 Country at the weekend was wiped out by the latest cold snap.

All football matches were postponed, notably Hastings United’s trip to Croydon Athletic in what would have been the first game after the departure of Tony Dolby as manager.

The Sussex One rugby derby between Rye and Hastings & Bexhill was called-off, as was South Saxons Hockey Club’s trip to Middleton & Bognor.

Even running didn’t escape because the Christmas Pudding Dash at Ashburnham Place was frozen off, although it has been rearranged for Tuesday December 28.
