Youngsters take EP back to top

EAST PRESTON Cricket Club had two of their youngsters to thank for returning to the top of Division 4 on Saturday.

EP now need just 59 points from their last three games to secure promotion and only 61 points for the title.

After losing the toss and being stuck into bat, EP had crashed to 135-8 with 10 of their 49 overs remaining. This left 16-year-old, Dan Williams, and 14-year-old, Darryl Rebbetts at the crease.

Both then scored quicker than a run a ball and smashed 85 from the last 10 overs with Williams hitting his first-ever league half-century. He ended 50 not out with five fours and three sixes and Rebbetts struck an unbeaten 33 with five fours for EP to finish on 220-8.

Both also then took two wickets in Storrington's reply.
