AN evening of dance and musical theatre is being staged to raise money for charity.

Glendale 2012 is being held at Worthing Pavilion Theatre on Sunday (July 22), at 7pm.

Featuring a cast of 70 pupils from Glendale Theatre Arts School, there will be a variety of song and dance with extracts and adaptations from popular pieces such as Shrek, Wicked and Sweeney Todd plus a tribute to Elvis.

It is being held in aid of the charity Kairo Konko Scout Fellowship which was set up for the children and families of Soma, in The Gambia.

It is a small charity, run by volunteers and all the money received goes to a variety of projects, providing and maintaining a basic education for the local children.

It is hoped proceeds from Glendale 2012 will fund a major project such as a new well, classroom refurbishments, gardening projects and the building of a new classroom or sponsoring a child through school.

The evening will be compared by Jacob Chapman, from television series Beaver Falls and the show will feature a special guest performance from West End star Jennie Dale, who has appeared in many West End productions including Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Oliver and Sister Act and has just returned from an International Tour of Mamma Mia where she played Rosie.

Tickets are available from Worthing Theatres box office on 01903 206206 costing £12 and £10.
