A GIANT conga eel will snake its way around Worthing pier as part of a national celebration.
Worthing will join seaside towns around the country to celebrate Party on the Pier – with the giant conga eel being the highlight of the occasion.
The event will kick off British Tourism Week on Saturday, March 12, and is being held to celebrate Britain’s piers and their heritage.
The eel will be topped with a giant head and will conga around the pier and through the town.
Worthing Borough Council’s regeneration team have commissioned Worthing Arts Council (WAC) to organise the Party on the Pier.
WAC is now looking for a lead artist to organise the event and work with local schools to build the eel and create their own sections to form the body of the beast.
Anyone interested in applying to be the lead artist, or schools that would like to create a section of the beast, should contact Stefan Sykes from Worthing Arts Council (email email@example.com).
The day, which will also feature a battle of the bands contest, will start at around 10.30am and finish at 4pm.
