Grappling fans are getting ready to rumble again at one of Worthing’s biggest wrestling events of the year next week.
The summer spectacular at the Assembly Hall next Thursday (August 27) promises heat wave-type action as stars from around the globe battle it out for the Worthing Rumblemania Trophy.
Among the contenders will be two international names new to Assembly Hall ringsiders, Italian Danny Santori and Spain’s Jocoso Jr., both of whom come to the party with high-flying reputations, plus one of the biggest personalities in wrestling, the self-styled “Prince of Mumbai,” Rishi Ghosh, from India.
Leading the home challenge is “Wonder Kid” Jonny Storm.
The PWF lightweight title-holder, who triumphed in 2008, is the only previous winner of the trophy, in the 18-year history of the competition, in this year’s field.
The fans can also look forward to a tag-team bonanza, with three tag matches, including a ladies bout, highlighting the programme in the run-up to the main attraction.
New girl grappler Rosie Leigh faces a baptism of fire when she teams up with “Little Miss Dynamite” Erin Angel against the adrenalin-fuelled international duo of giant Jamaican ace Amazon and rugged Spanish star Dragonita.
Also bidding for glory in the over-the-top-rope finale for the Pavilion Cars Trophy will be local star Charlie Checkmate, who now ranks as one of the most popular wrestlers on the PWF roster, ring royalty in the shape of Jonathan Windsor, former welterweight champion Andy Simmonz and bad boy Sid Scala.
The action starts at 7.45pm.
