LIVE MUSIC: The Manfreds

THE Manfreds will be performing many of their hits, along with a mix of jazz and blues songs, when they visit Worthing's Assembly Hall on Thursday, April 22.

Original front-man Paul Jones, with his unique harmonica sound, will be joined by Mike Hugg on keyboards, Tom McGuinness on lead guitar, Rob Townsend on drums, Marcus Cliffe on bass guitar and Simon Currie on saxophone/ flute.

They will create a full evening of classic Manfreds tracks plus a few surprise renditions of their work as individual artists such as Paul Jones' solo work or tracks with his fellow members of The Blues Band, McGuinness and Townsend.

In the '60s they had 15 UK top 20 singles and were the third English band to reach number one in America after The Beatles and The Animals, with hits including Do Wah Diddy Diddy, 5-4-3-2-1, Pretty Flamingo and Semi-Detached Suburban Mr James.

Their live gigs burst with a mix of pop, rhythm and blues and jazz blended with the showmanship and charisma expected of a traditional Manfreds show.

Tickets for the shows, which starts at 8pm, are 16.50 and 18.50.

They can be brought in person at the box office, by calling 01903 206206 or visiting the website www.worthingtheatres.co.uk
