ROPETACKLE: What's on this week at Shoreham's Ropetackle Centre

YOUR one-stop guide to what's coming up at Ropetackle Arts Centre, Little High Street, Shoreham, in the next week.

A wintry Shoreham awoke on Saturday covered in white crystals.

A beautiful hoar frost had descended and turned the town into a fragile work of art.

But the arts centre lay cold and silent.

The heating had broken down and Saturday's show had been cancelled.

This weekend, things couldn't be more different.

The Ropetackle is up and running again and will be full of children during the day on Saturday (January 17) when the centre launches its series of art workshops.

Visual Art

Visual Art workshops will run from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm at a cost of 11 per child (booking details below).

Barnstormers

On Saturday night, the ever-popular Barnstormers Comedy returns with more rib- tickling fun.

Cole Parker, Chambers and Nettleton and Martin Davis display their skills alongside resident compre Kevin Precious.

There's plenty of bawdy content and, as the centre doesn't wish to offend anyone, it's over-18s only, unless accompanied by an adult.

Doors open at 7.45pm, show 8.30pm, tickets 10 in advance, 12 on door.

Looking for Mr Gill

Sunday (January 18) sees the first in a new season of films by Sussex-based directors.

Looking for Mr Gill was part of Luke Hollands acclaimed five-part documentary series, A Very English Village.

It explores the legacy that Eric Gill, maverick genius of the Arts and Crafts movement, left to Ditchling.

Gill was a hugely influential artist, but his sexual proclivities have somewhat tarnished his reputation.

Luke Holland takes us on an insightful journey, exploring Gill and his art.
