Visitors cannot enter Knepp Castle near Horsham as it is a private home, but the estate runs a rewilding project and offers safaris and camping options.
Camber Castle lies between Rye and Winchelsea and was restored and now owned by English Heritage. It incorporates an early 14th century circular tower.
10. Pevensey Castle
This medieval castle and former Roman Saxon Shore fort at Pevensey, East Sussex, is a Scheduled Monument in the care of English Heritage.
