Wiston Steam Rally 2021 cancelled and will not return to Wiston Estate
The popular Wiston Steam Rally will not take place this year – and will not return to the Wiston Estate in the future.
Organisers Sussex Steam Shows Ltd made the announcement in what would have been the event’s tenth-anniversary year at Wiston, near Steyning.
In a statement, the committee said: “It is with much sorrow that we must announce our much loved event Wiston Steam Rally will not be taking place this year. 2021 would have marked our tenth anniversary at Wiston Estate and we are deeply saddened to not be organising an event for another year.”
The statement added the committee had been looking at running a Covid-safe event this year, but ‘circumstances beyond our control’ meant it would not be possible.
“Following discussions with Wiston Estate, we have unfortunately been unable to reach a mutual agreement at this moment in time and, therefore, must also confirm that our 2019 rally was our final event at Wiston Estate and our tenure at the estate has sadly drawn to a close,” it went on.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Goring family for their continued support and for trusting us with the use of their beautiful Family home as our venue for the past nine years.
“Sussex Steam Shows Ltd has organised the premier steam event in Sussex for over ten years, raising much-needed funds for local and national charities and providing a fantastic day out for families and we will continue to do this. Go to www.sussexsteamrally.co.uk for future announcements.
“We thank our supporters for your understanding and wish you and your loved ones the very best of health. We look forward to reuniting with you in the future for our next chapter.”
