Young soloist plays

EASTBOURNE Symphony Orchestra continues its 27th season showcasing one of the winners of its prestigious annual young soloist competition, horn player Kira Doherty.

She has performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Currently performing in London as a Canada Council of the Arts sponsored artist, she will be playing Mozart's Horn Concerto No 4 in E flat.

The guest conductor is Sion Parry who is head of performance in the music department at Eastbourne College.

The programme also features Beethoven's Consecration of the House Overture, Strauss's Emperor Waltz and Brahms' Symphony No 2.

The concert is at 6.30pm on Sunday, October 7, in St Saviour's Church.
