Sarah Gray, owner of The Butcher and Deli, and her colleague Scott Butler donated food to Family Support Work to help 12 families who have been going through hard times. Sarah said the shop, in The Street, Rustington had remained busy despite the Covid-19 lockdowns and she felt it was important to give back to the community. Grace Sims from the charity, which runs children’s activities in the village, said the donation was ‘amazingly generous’ and the families had really appreciated receiving the goodies. One parent said she and her children would have struggled through lockdown had it not been for the support they had received. Sarah said: “We’re proud to have been supporting Grace and Charlie from the charity Family Support Work, supplying struggling local families with fresh food. “As well as giving what we can through the week, we put together special Easter hampers for 12 families so they could enjoy a nice Easter. “We’ve been so fortunate to remain busy during lockdown and we feel it’s time to give back to the community. The feedback from these families is truly humbling and shows how worthwhile this charity is to provide them with some simple pleasures. “We have a collection tin in the shop with 100 per cent of donations going to provide fresh produce for these families. Many of us take a spaghetti bolognese, sausage or bacon sandwich for granted - to these families, it is a real treat, so let’s help them enjoy more treats.”
