Angmering's conkering champions urged to join competition
Veterans and novices have been perfecting their conker-smashing techniques in readiness for this Sunday’s competition, at the Spotted Cow, in High Street.
The afternoon is once again being arranged by S.C.O.T.C.H. (Spotted Cow Organisation To Create Help) and will be fundraising for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice, with organisers hoping Sunday’s competition will beat last year’s total of £840.

“It is recommended that the minimum age limit is eight-years old. There is no maximum age limit; the oldest player in past years has been 98 years young!”
All conkers and string are provided.
The competition is run on a knockout basis. Prizes are awarded the first three teams in the main draw with the winning team also being presented the Alleycat Catteries shield. In addition there are prizes for the most outstanding player and the best fancy dress.
Registration is from 12.30pm, with the event starting at 1.30pm. Entry per team is £10. There is a barbecue, raffle and a draw for a magnum of Champagne. There is live music, at 4.30pm from Peter Ridge and friends.
