A 78-year-old man has been charged with drink-driving after reports of a car going the wrong way down the A24, police say.

Godfrey Maclauchlan was arrested at 6am on Tuesday June 2 after officers stopped his Ford Mondeo on the A272 in Cowfold.

Maclauchlan, of Crown Road, Billericay, Essex, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on June 16.
