Findon set to get cycle paths from Covid-19 fund: council explains bid

It has put in a bid for emergency Government funding to create 2km of cycleways from Findon Valley to Findon village by the A24.
The funds come from the same scheme that has led to the creation of the controversial temporary cycle lanes in Broadwater Road, Worthing – sparking fears Findon could suffer the same fate.

Hide AdBut a West Sussex County Council spokesman said the Findon scheme would be permanent and ‘is proposed as an off-carriageway, shared walkway and cycleway facility’ so will not impact drivers.
The funding comes from the Emergency Active Travel Fund initiative, which aims to create space for active travel and allow for people to cycle rather than use the car. It is an emergency response to increasing travel options as part of the Government-led recovery plan from Covid-19.
